Addition Revision

For maths I have been learning about Addition Revision.

It is a easy strategy to use. it helps you to answer the question faster. First you add the ones. Then add the tens then add. Then add both of add numbers and you have your answer. This strategy helps to get better at answering qestion

ASB Get wise

LI learn how to use money wise

This week we learnt about ASB get wise. It's when you learn about how to use your money. We played a game. The point of the game was to spend all the money you saved Fiji. The money we save was $1800. We first spend our money on the passport and flights. Once our passport was paid we could pay for first class or economy class flights. Economy class was $500 and the frist class was $800.We chose $500.

Next we got to Fiji. Then we had to spend on our accommodation. The rich house was $800 and the bad house was $200. We chose the $200 hundred house. Then we paid for our activites. Surfing was $100, swimming with shark $200, and Sky diving was $300. We chose all of the activites. Then we could pay for $300 Insurance but we chose not to buy. Then we were poisoning. The debt was $2000. Then we rolled the dice. If it landed on 5 and 6 then we could not pay the debt but if it land on 1,2,3,4, you pay the debt. This game taught lot of stuff about money.

Four digit number

This week for maths I learnt big number. The first question was called what was the smallest four digest number I could make. The smallest four digest number I could make is, 1000. My next question was what is the smallest four digit number but 6 is in the one place. My answer was 1006. My last quest was what is the biggest four digest number you can make.

pie charts

This week for maths me and my group made a pie chart that shows which sport the students in LS2 likes.

We learned that the most liked sport in LS2  was rugby and that the least favorite sports were netball, tennis and mma.

We then also created a DLO showing our PIE chart. Next we wrote information about our pie chart so our reader

and ourselves understand what we learned, what we did and what was the most favorite sport. This was a fun and

cool activity.

Fraction

Fractions are equal pieces of a whole. In a fraction there is a denominator and a numerator. The numerator is the top number and the denominator is the bottom nuber.

Equivalent faction is a fraction that has the sae value. Improper fraction is when the higher than the denoinator. Percentages are certian amounts that represent a fraction of a whole. Fraction of a set fits in between fraction of a whole and fraction multiplication.

Avarege

This week for maths we tried to find the averages for each team in each class.

The first thing we did was finding out how many points room six got. Next we added all the numbers to find the total. Then we add all the points from each team and tried to find the averages. Then we add all the teams from each class room in ths school. When we found all the avarege we divided it by 9.

For example: If there is 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 then do this. (2x2) + (3x4) + (5x6) = ???. If you're wondering on how to add this then do this is how. 2 x 2 = 4, 3 x 4 = 12, 5 x 6 = 30. Then add all these numbers up: 4 + 12 + 30 = 46. 46 is how much points a team got.

This was hard doing the Math.

Maths

This week we had a conversation about what they learnt and what we learnt.

First we had to get partner with someone that didn't learn what you lean. I leant what a  Inrterpreting data and frequency. I learnt what Inrterpreting data and frequency. Inrterpreting data is when you explaning how much you collected from the data set.  Frequency means amount of things.

Then I teached my partnar how to convet measurement. Then I explained how measuremnt is used. Measuremen are used to find out length, hieght, width using cmm mm, m, and km. When converting measurment you use 10, 100, and 1000. For example 10mm = 1cm. 100cm = 1m. 1000m = 1km.

Then we had to get into new partnes. I learnt time. I learnt that fraction and written algrorithm adds up time. In the units of time is, 60 seconds = 1 minute, 60 minuets = 1 hour, 24 hours is 1 day, 7 days = 1 week, and 52 weeks = 1 year. Time also use am and pm. Am is is in the moring and pm is at night.

Lastly I taught my partner about money. Money is used in the place value system. Place vaue is also used in ten. In money they have dollars, cents, cards. In money they have, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 2 dollar, 5 dollar, 10 dollar, 20 dollar 50 dollar and 100 dollar.

I thought that I was a good teacher and a good student. I also thought that my patners were also a good teacher and student.

Time

There are three m's and it is mean, median, and mode.
Mean is known as average.
To do the mean you add all your numbers up then divide. To divide you check how many numbers are there and that's the number you divide.

Median, if you have five numbers you make them least to greatest. You choose the number in the middle and that is the median. If you have an even set of numbers you choose the two middle numbers then add it and divide it by two.

Mode, you write the numbers least to greatest. After that you choose the numbers that appear the most.

LI investigate units of time.

Maths

I learnt to use different strategies to solve equations using all four operations/multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. A strategy is a plan to complete a task.

Some of our equations:

Our first equation was 84 - 7. We used four different strategies to solve this equation. One of our strategy was the number line. We first started off at 77 then added 3 to get to a tidy number which was 80. The added 4 to get to 84.

Our second equation was 1.5 - 0.885. We used three different strategies. One of our strategy was the written algorithm. We first started by adding 0.885 + 0.005 = 0.890. Then 0.890 + 0.010 = 1.0. Lastly I added 1.0 + 0.5 = 1.5.

Coding Angles

This week for maths we learnted about Coding, and Angles.  We learned coding and angles using a website called pencil.com.

I traveled location to location using coding and angles. The location were, Sky Tower, Cape Reinga, North Head, Beehive, and Aoraki. The first location I went to was Cape Reinga.

I will be telling you how I got to my three locations. I started at the sky tower, I turned 49 degrees anticlockwise and I moved foward 370m. When I got to Cape Ringa I had to travel to to North head.

I turned anticlockwise 147 and I went foward 450, I got to North head. When I got to North head I travled to Aoraki. I turned anticlockwise 69 and I went foward 390.

Coding, Measuring, and angles

This week for maths we are learning coding, Measuring, and angle. Angle are distance truns direction to another. Measuring is measure how long of something.

Coding is using words, numbers, and symbols to describe a movement or make something do something. We played a game. In this game we had to use coding, Measuring, and angle. Then I had to play the game.

We had to role a dice and start at that number on the house. Then I role the dice again to travel to the other number house. I used protractors, rulers, and pencils to mark my spot.

Mass, length, and volume

This week for maths I learnt Mass, length, and volume. Mass is the amount of something.
Length is how long something is. Volume is the amount of space it takes up.

I solved six problems. Then I correct the problems using measuring cylinders, scales, and paper.

The equstion were 65 + 28 for paper, 93 - 34 for paper, 76 +37with scale 134 - 53with scale, 140 + 70 with water, and 210 - 60 with water.

subtract place value

This week for maths I learnt how to subtract by using place value.

To subtract in place value first I wrote the question to solve. Then I took the second number and I spilt it. 164 - 46
46 = 40 + 6

I took the ones and take away from the big number.
164 - 6 = 140

Next I took away the ten. There is no hundreds in 46.
140 - 40 = 100

I found this faster because is was faster than using you hands.

Big Numbers

Big numbers are used in place value like ones, thousands, and million. Each place value house has three house. They are ones, thousends and million.  They are three room.  It is ones, ten and hundred.

To read 547 829 316. First you say five hundred. Then say fourty seven then when you say that all you say million after five hundred and fourty seven.

Next is thousends. Say eight hundred. Then say twenty nine, put tem togther with thousands.

Lastly is ones. Say three hundred. Then say sixteen. If you put all does number togther that how you say 547 829 316.

Egyptian numbers

This week I learnt about ancient Egyptian numbers. The Egyptian numbers are line, flower, man one his knees, quail, finger, and long rope, and a short rope.. The number for the flower is thousand. The number for the man the is on his knees is million.

The number for the frog is hundred thousand. The number for the finger is ten thousand.
The number for the coil is hundred. Long rope is ten, and the short rope is one.

I had to make a slide. I had to make the number with a abacus, blocks, place value house, and Egyptian numbers.
