Kowhaiwai

This week we made kowhaiwai patten.

My kowhaiwai patten represent my family. In the kowhaiwai patten it had: Siister, me, brother, grandmother, grandad, dad, and mum.

When I was making this it was hard because i didn't know what patten to do.

  1. Hello Taua, this is Elle from the Summer Learning Journey team.

It is great to see that you have been so busy on your blog! I really like your kowhaiwhai pattern; it is very bright and vibrant, and stands out! Why did you choose green and yellow as your colours? Is it because they are your favourite, or because they represent family?

I think it is very special that you represented family in your art, and that you have a koru for each member. I really like that you have included your inspiration and your challenges too - I think you chose a great pattern with lots of symmetry, even though you didn’t know which pattern to do at first.

Ka pai and keep up the great work Taua!

    Ngā mihi,
    Elle (SLJ)
