Taste buds

LI: to learn about our taste buds.
This week for tech we have been learning about taste buds. The taste buds were sweet, bitter, sour, and salt. After that we drank some liquids. They were name from A to I. All the liquids had bitter in it or sweet or salt or sour. Some liquids were bad and some liquids were good.  After that my investigation, I found out that not everyone has the same taste buds because people had chose a different thing to someone else chose.

Acids & Bases

This week for tech we have been learning acids and bases. All liquids and bases are either bases or acid depending on the iron. People use a Ph scale to find out if it is acids or bases, or neutral.     PH scales 0 - 14   0 - 7 are acids  7 - 14 are bases Strong acid Weak acid Boric acid can be in insects Plants have acids in the leaves Sodium HydroxideBaking soda Lactic acid

The things we used were Baking soda Distilled water Window cleaner Toilet bowl cleaner Lemon juice Milk Orange juiceApple juice. First of all, using the macker, label each item you will be testing

We measure about 4 or 5 drops of each item into the well plate and mark it for that item..

Osmosis and Transpiration

This week for tech we are leaning about Osmosis and Transpiration. Photosynthesis. Photosynthesis -Make food Plants Water can only move around a flower by xylem. It is tiny cubes that make the water move in plants.

Co2 plus H20 makes sunlight or water and carbon dioxide. Sugar plus 02 or glucose and oxygen, are the plant's food. We used water and food colouring to see how much water has been dissolved.

I enjoyed it because we got to see the colour being obsurberd.

Topic 3 Trying out the laboratory equipment

LI: To find how long sugar would take to disslove.

This week for tech we did experment. The experiment was trying to find how long it would take the sugar to dissolve in hot water and cold water. We used a thermometer to check the temperature. The material we used were, Thermometer, Stop watch, A weighing machine or pair of scales,A petri dish,Table sugar,Two 200 ml beakers, Water in a pouring container, A pipette (or dropper) and Spatula

We poured 100 ml of cold water into the beaker. Using the spatula transferred 10 grams of sugar into the petri dish. Then we poured the 10g of sugar into the 200ml beaker, then timed it to see how long it took to dissolve the sugar. We poured 100mls of hot water in the beaker. Using the spatula we transferred 10grams of sugar into the petri dish. Then we poured the 10g of sugar in the 200ml beaker, then timed it to see how long it took to dissolve the sugar.
